Suggested List of Items to Bring on the Trip

With Gulfstream Charters, we take care of all the fishing equipment necessary for your trip. Still, there are plenty of other items you might want to consider bringing for your optimal enjoyment. Feel free to bring plenty of food, drinks, soda, water and beer. Staying hydrated should be on your list of priorities since the salt air will increase your thirst and hunger. We do ask that you avoid bringing glass containers for safety precautions, and we do not allow hard liquor on our vessel.

Easy eating items are popular on our trips so that you can enjoy most of your time fishing. Sandwiches, chips, pretzels and fruit are great examples of this. Alternatively, lunch can be arranged or catered if you provide advance notice, and there will be a nominal fee included with this service.
Beyond food and drink items, be sure to pack gear that protects you from the sun, such as hats, sunglasses, towels and sunscreen. Also, wear soft soled shoes for your trip with us, given that this protects the boat and you, most importantly. Feel free to take a camera with you so you can commemorate all of the great fishing moments you are sure to have. Along those lines, consider bringing a cooler so you can bring your fishing haul home with you!
As far as things to avoid, do not bring drugs, hard liquor, glass containers, GPS, firearms or weapons of any kind. The captain of the vessel also reserves the exclusive right to limit alcohol consumption if safety becomes a concern. These policies serve to enhance the protection and feelings of safety that make for an ideal fishing charter experience.

A Note on Sea Sickness:

For most of our clients, sea sickness is not a problem. However, if you have a history of motion sickness or have never experienced the thrill of the open ocean, do ask your doctor about potential medications that may be advisable. To this end, do not come on the trip with a bad hangover. If you have been drinking the night before, hydrate well and eat plenty of food. Most importantly, moderate any alcohol consumption and get plenty of rest. There is no point in wasting the exhilarating ocean breeze and fresh air experience thanks to a nasty hangover.

One of the best ways to prevent motion sickness is to stay well hydrated. Dehydration is a major cause of sea sickness. If you know that you are susceptible to sea sickness from past experience, take any remedy prescribed by your doctor or try great over the counter nondrowsy solutions such as Dramamine 2. If you are taking medication, take them before bedtime the night before and several hours prior to boarding. While you may not need it, a safe approach is never a bad strategy. If you do feel queasy, head to the deck and let the refreshing breeze wash over you while you focus on the picturesque horizon. Following these tips should make sea sickness a nonissue so you can enjoy your adventure.
